![]() Galactic Suite Ltd, is a the company that claims to be the first to offer “space vacations”. How? Of course by building the first Space Hotel in orbit, 450 km away from earth. Indeed this is a very ambitious project, which is already budgeted up to USD 1,5 billion. They are cooperating with EQUIP Xavier Claramunt, an architects office based in Barcelona, with a group of aerospace engineers from Florida. These, have developed a prototype the can host space tourists and astronauts. The space hotel will look like a grape, with accommodation facilities placed around a central core. Something like a satelite. Each department will look like a capsule 7mt long by 4mt height, with no angled walls at all. As it concerns the inside of the capsule there will be areas were visitors will be eating, sleeping double strapped and look through a very large window to a wonderful view. According to the designer, “the key element is, that each one can see at the deep space, without any limitations and the traditional concepts of up-down, left-right. The complete trip around earth 80 minutes will be the maximum of time needed and mark this one… visitors will see and admire 15 sunrises in 24 hours!!!
For the construction of the hotel, space shuttle Challenger has been proposed, which can easily carry 3 capsules on each route, plus the central core will be able to support 22 of these. The same shuttle will also carry the visitors and it will be docked on the space hotel, during their stay. According to Galactic Suite Ltd the hotel will be ready in 2012 and the first tickets will be available since 2008, costing (of course) more or less USD 3 million. This prices included special training in hi tech installations placed in the Carribean Islands, plus the transportation towards the space hotel. Is it with or without breakfast? We have to ask. — Something also interesting — Bookmark this post to...
